Marcos Garcia-Fuentes
Professor University of Santiago de Compostela
Prof. Marcos GarcÃa obtained his PhD in Pharmacy in 2004 from the University of Santiago de Compostela, where he investigated nanomedicines for transmucosal protein delivery. He went on to work internationally as a visiting scientist at Purdue University (USA) and as a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at ETH Zurich, focusing on biomaterials, drug delivery, and tissue engineering.
In 2007, he returned to the University of Santiago de Compostela as a junior principal investigator with the Nanobiofar group and later became Assistant Professor at the School of Pharmacy. Promoted to Associate Professor in 2013, he went on to establish the BIomaterials & Drug Delivery (BIDD) research group at the Center for Research in Molecular Medicine and Chronic Diseases (CIMUS) in 2017.
Prof. GarcÃa’s research focuses on the design of novel biomaterials and nanomedicine platforms for advanced therapy medicinal products, bridging fundamental science with translational applications.
